The latest Game Informer coverage has revealed a bunch of new information about GTA 6, along with 12 previously unseen screenshots provided by Rockstar. While the images themselves show different parts of Leonida, they also give us a better idea of how some of the game’s systems and activities could work.
Jason vs. First Chapter
One of the screenshots shows Jason being chased by members of First Chapter, a motorcycle gang operating in the Ambrosia region. The gang appears to have significant control over the area, and the images suggest that Jason will eventually end up on their bad side.
The Thirsty Wolf, a local bar, seems to be one of First Chapter’s main hangouts. The interior is packed with small details, including a pool table, drinks and neon signs.
The screenshots also show members of the gang wearing patches that indicate their rank. One of the characters appears to hold the Sergeant-at-Arms position, which could explain why Jason is being chased by him and other members.
Even More Character Detail
Rockstar seems to be pushing character detail further than ever. The new images show tattoos, freckles, different skin conditions and even visible sunburn on NPCs.
Tattoo designs are apparently being created with different communities and cultures in mind. Since players will also be able to visit tattoo shops, some of the designs seen on NPCs could potentially become available for Jason and Lucia.
Character body types are also more varied than in previous games. Jason and Lucia both appear to have athletic builds, while Rockstar has confirmed that characters can also gain weight in different areas of their bodies.
Phones, Photos and Social Media
Another screenshot shows people using their phones at the beach, reinforcing how important social media appears to be in GTA 6.
Snapmatic is returning, although Jason and Lucia apparently will not be able to freely post their own content. Players will still be able to use cameras, however, and photography could once again play a role in exploration or certain activities.
One of the screenshots also shows a person using a proper camera in Mount Kalaga National Park, which could hint at photography related activities.
Jason and Lucia can also be seen running through the park together. This could simply be part of a mission, but it also raises questions about how much freedom players will have when choosing activities for the two characters.
Clothing and Activities
Rockstar says GTA 6 will feature the largest selection of clothing and accessories the studio has created so far. Clothes are also designed to reflect the local culture and fashion of Leonida.
The screenshots show Jason and Lucia wearing different outfits depending on what they are doing, which could suggest that players will need to choose appropriate clothing for certain activities.
The game is also shaping up to have plenty of things to do outside the main story. Rockstar has already shown activities such as swimming, kayaking, base jumping and working out, while Game Informer’s coverage reveals additional options including mini golf, scuba diving, visiting the zoo and playing pool.
Hunting and Weapon Customization
Hunting will be another major side activity. One screenshot shows Jason in a more traditional hunting scenario with a shotgun and deer, while another shows a dangerous encounter involving alligators.
The world also appears to contain traps and equipment that could be used for catching animals, although it’s still unclear how deep these systems will go.
Weapon customization is also looking more advanced. Jason is shown using a customized rifle with camouflage, while Lucia appears to have an assault rifle fitted with several attachments, including a suppressor, red dot sight and foregrip.
This could mean GTA 6 will offer a much more detailed weapon customization system than previous games.
A Massive Amount of Wildlife
According to Game Informer’s coverage, GTA 6 will feature around 170 animal species, including more than 60 bird species and over 30 land mammals.
The new screenshots show animals such as alligators, deer, ducks, seagulls and dogs. Even small creatures appear to have their own behaviors. For example, pigeons can be seen searching through garbage near The Thirsty Wolf.
Wildlife will also play a role in hunting, with animals reportedly divided into rare, discoverable and legendary categories.
Dynamic Weather
One of the biggest technical improvements appears to be the weather system.
Rockstar has explained that GTA 6 uses dynamic cloud formations and localized weather conditions. The screenshots show a large storm with heavy clouds and lightning, giving us another look at how dramatic the weather in Leonida can become.
Rain is also supposed to leave water on surfaces for some time after a storm. The puddles seen around The Thirsty Wolf could be an example of this system in action.
The World Is Packed With Small Details
Perhaps the most impressive part of the new material is how much attention Rockstar is putting into seemingly unimportant parts of the world.
One screenshot shows Tucker’s Citrus Farms, where workers can be seen harvesting fruit among rows of orange trees. The location helps make the more rural areas of Leonida feel like an actual functioning environment rather than just scenery.
There are even small environmental interactions happening in the background. A passing plane appears to kick up dust, with nearby NPCs reacting to it. Whether this is a fully dynamic simulation or a carefully staged moment remains unknown, but it shows the level of detail Rockstar is aiming for.
Overall, these screenshots reveal much more than just new locations. They give us a better look at the wildlife, weather, clothing, photography, hunting, customization and everyday activities that could make Leonida feel more alive than any previous GTA world.
There is still plenty we don’t know, but these new details are definitely giving us a better idea of what Rockstar is building.
